CNA Training Programs in New Jersey
In order to be permitted to work in a nursing home or assisted living facility as a New Jersey nurse aide you must successfully complete the New Jersey curriculum for Nurse Aide in Long Term Care Facilities Training and Competency Evaluation Program. Please note that there is no list of approved CNA training and competency evaluation programs at licensed long term care facilities or a list of approved Medication Aide training programs at assisted living facilities in New Jersey and therefore you will need to check the availability of these programs by contacting the nursing homes and assisted living facilities directly. The State of New Jersey does not require nurse aide testing for CNA candidates who can demonstrate that they are certified and in good standing in another state even though the CNA examinations are different from state to state. If you are not a certified nurse aide in another state, you will be required to take the written and performance CNA exams in order to be placed on New Jersey's Nurse Aide Registry.

Are you looking for a fast and affordable way to start your career in the health care field? As a certified nurse aide you will not have to commit to years of study and your tuition will be covered by many employers as long as you agree to work at the facility for at least one year. Atlantic Cape Community College is one of the schools in New Jersey offering a certification course to become a nurse aide. The program is 90 hours long and fully accredited by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. You will spend about 50 hours attending classroom instruction and 40 hours providing hands-on care under the supervision of a registered nurse. At the end of the nurse aide course you will be ready to challenge the state examination and become certified. This program can be completed by attending classes during the day or evening, several days a week without requiring weekends. The cost of the program is approximately $1,800 and it includes tuition, materials, and lab supplies. There are no waiting lists and you may start attending class soon after you register.
